Award Winners
We are proud to announce FIVE Melvin Jones Fellows and FIVE Warren Coleman recipients, awarded at our 60th Anniversary Celebration on January 16, 2010:
Melvin Jones Fellows, Front Row, L-R: Alvin Wright, Dale Edens, Teresa Reed, Raldo Horman, Wallace Reidel, District Governor Gary Glockhoff
Warren Coleman recipients, Back Row, L-R: Richard Timm, Jerry Elijah, Don McGlaughlin, David Geinzer, and Mike Boyle
Melvin Jones founded Lions in 1917; this Fellowship honors the recipient for his/her humanitarian efforts. It's the highest award presented by the Lions Clubs International.
Warren Coleman was a longtime Iowa Lions Foundation secretary, and this award honors the recipient for his/her service to others.
Each of these awards represents a $1,000 donation made by the Tipton Lions Club to either the Lions Clubs International Foundation or the Lions Clubs of Iowa Foundation. The Foundations then use this money for humanitarian and relief aid efforts around the world.
Tipton Lions also donated $1,000 to LCIF for relief efforts in Haiti, presented to PID David Stoufer the night of our banquet.
The recipients were chosen by club members via special ballot.
Flags Over Tipton
The Tipton Lions are looking forward to 2010 - another exciting year for getting the flags out around the City of Tipton! We've added even more homes and businesses for this year.
If you are interested in having a flag for your yard or business, please see a Lions Club member and we will help you!
When we receive your subscription, we contact Iowa OneCall, then install a receiver in your yard, flush to the ground. (This holds the flag pole) For five holidays per year - Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, and Veterans Day - we will install large, beautiful American flags in your yard at dawn and retrieve them that evening. The flags are occasionally left out longer for some holidays, if they fall on a weekend.
This is a beautiful way to celebrate your patriotism! Join over 350 subscribers who show their pride!
